I've been writing songs since I was 4.
Songwriting is my happy, my compulsion, my first love, my heartbreaker, my madness, my shame, my ticket, my friend/betrayer/renewal, and once or twice my glory... (ish?) I mean, I never got a huge radio hit or anything, but I've been lucky enough to get some awards and a few great placements. One song even sold over 3 million recordings! IDK though, I'm def still questing, not so much for industry validation anymore, just really for my own heart I guess. There's something that still, after all these years, just hasn't come together in there. Maybe the puzzle could be jiggled into a fit by the right song?
Also, the last few years I've been teaching songwriting. Assisting others in their creation process is an honor and a blast. I'm now putting the finishing touches on a course called 3 Killer Songs in 30 Days and I can't wait to share that with anyone who wants to try their hand at songwriting, or take their songwriting practice to the next level. Anyway, it's got me thinking that maybe I should practice what I preach and put some songs out there for the world to hear. What good does it do anyone to leave the poor things cramped up in digital folders? So in the spirit of sharing 'em and airing 'em... here's a random harmonic spattering, scanning years, styles, singers and projects.
“Your life is your song. Sing out!”
